Mini Vacation

We just spent the weekend relaxing in a fantastic cabin! The girls had been counting down the days for the past 3 weeks and could hardly contain their excitement. We headed out a day early to spend some time catching up with friends and then made our way to the cabin. We immediately asked Ry to build a fire in the fireplace and then Ry and the girls jumped into the hot-tub while I spent some alone time on the couch! Dinner was hotdogs and marshmallows over the indoor fire. We accomplished almost everything that the girls wanted to do in the first night!

Pretending to sleep! The first night in the new room was rough, but we wore them out hiking the next day so our last night was a lot better. They LOVED sharing this 'big bed'!
 Hiking Adventures!
After a weekend of cold temperatures and an ice storm we were very thankful for the high 50's on this day of hiking because almost all the ice had melted. It made for some muddy hiking, but also some great icicles! Daddy carefully guided the girls through the mud, water, and random ice patches so that I could shuffle along and avoid falling on any surprise ice patches. We met a few hikers on our way out of both places but got to explore alone. We had so much fun exploring!

Thanks for finding us some icicles daddy!
Then it was off to explore Cedar Falls...again we discovered some awesome icicles!

How about this one girls?!

The best find!

We ended our outdoor adventures with a picnic. Can you believe that the temperature reached 62? Crazy January weather!

The rest of our time was spent at the cabin....eating, skipping naps, watching movies, coloring, playing the dollar scavenger hunt (past guests had hidden a few $1 bills and left us clues...we weren't very successful, but it was exciting to look and find 2 then hide them for the next guests) and sitting in the hot tub. After lack of sleep at night and no naps for 3 days we had to cut out our plans for the way home so some cranky girls could rest. But, overall, it was a great trip and we hope to do it again next year!
