Baby Chicks

Ryan's parents just bought 50 meat chickens. They came in the mail! How cool is that!? And, since they bought 50 of them they were given one rare chicken. Can you find it in this bunch? Anyway, the chickens will be tended to for 10 weeks and then it's off to a local amish famer who will prepare them for our freezers. No, we're not getting attached to them, but it's been fun to enjoy them as chicks although they are growing really fast.
Chloe is really growing in the area of animals. She is no longer afraid of everything! She went to a farm with Ryan's mom when they picked out the last batch of laying hens and she refused to even touch the chicks. Now, we had to tell her that she was not allowed to touch them because she kept kissing them too hard, hugging (squeezing!) them too much, and throwing them back into their bins. She did learn how to handle them more gently, but the chicks still run from her and cheep up a storm when she tries to grab one!

Olivia was a little scared at first...
but she warmed up to them quickly.

The chicks actually gravitated towards her because she didn't try to attack them! They actually started walking right up to her and she was able to reach out and touch them. Too cute!
